In a press release, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack added, “… our MyPlate symbol is a simple reminder to think before we eat.”
The USDA has teamed up with more than 6,000 MyPlate Community and National Strategic Partners in this effort, and they are all committed to promoting the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which politely said you’re all getting a bit too fat and perhaps you should consider not eating so much. From the press release, the USDA and partners message is “Enjoy your food, but eat less.” Therein lies the problem. We enjoy it so much, we want more, more, more.

Just for grins, a Reuben from Arby’s has 640 calories, 30 grams of fat and 1,610 mg of sodium. And, wow, 32 grams of protein.
All Reuben jokes aside, let’s eat well and post a photo tomorrow. Promote the cause for healthy eating. Do it for the children, people!
