On Sunday evening as most people in the universe were watching a chemist rig a gun in his trunk, the West End Pub was preparing for its very own finale. After 25 years of business in the West End, the self-described “neighborhood pub without a neighborhood” shut the doors for the last time.
Bob Allen of the West End Pub posted a lengthy eulogy on behalf the restaurant on Facebook, which thanked many regulars for being in the same seats nearly every day for 25 years; while others stopped in before Stars or Mavs game and others who popped in for the Pub’s world famous chicken salad.
Allen calls it the “end of an era,” but also the beginning of a new chapter, one of good memories, and he finishes with a sincere thanks to everyone who ever walked through the doors.
Twenty-five years is ancient in the restaurant world. The majority of restaurants fail in the first year, according to the Perry Group. Of those that survive the first year, 70-percent fail within three to five years. So, good on ya’, West End Pub.
