A few weeks ago we told you about the Deep Ellum Urban Garden (DUG) fundraising project via Crowdtilt.com.
Here’s a recap: Through the Deep Ellum Community Association, DUG is trying to raise $25,000 to create a community garden in Deep Ellum. However, they’re taking it in baby steps and have set an initial goal of $10,000 by the end of today, October 31.
This garden will be a collective neighborhood effort and the money is needed for things like a fence, an irrigation system, a shed, top soil, mulch and so on. To raise the funds they’ve created an account with CrowdTilt.com. The concept is that a “crowd” contributes financially to a cause and “tilts” when their collective contributions reach a certain number. In this case, $10,000.
If they don’t reach the goal, then none of the promised donations (aka credit cards on file) will be charged.

I just spoke with Paula Ramirez with the Deep Ellum Community Association, and she tells me she’s “stressed.” They are at about 90 percent of their goal, but have less then 12 hours to bring it home.
According to the DUG crowdtilt account at 12:56 p.m., they need $910 by midnight tonight to tilt the coffers for the Deep Ellum Urban Garden.
