Snack closed this Sunday, according to a post on Culture Map. The restaurant has been shifting concepts since it opened in an attempt to court customers, while nearby, the Capitol Pub, Hacienda On Henderson, J Blacks, and the recently opened Tried and True enjoy brisk business.

Initially, Avner Samuel and Jon Stevens opened a small plates concept that focused on world flavors. Their hope was customers would come to graze, and then stay to enjoy cocktails that turned out to be not so good.

As I was working on a review of the restaurant, the kitchen shifted to larger plates, in an attempt to shift to a more traditional sit-down-dinner concept.

The third incarnation of Snack shifted the focus to pizza and burgers according to an updated menu posted online. Now the restaurant is closed for a complete redo.

While a new concept by existing owners may not classify as a new restaurant, Snack’s next embodiment will mark the fifth restaurant to occupy the space in four years including Pulcinella, and Urbino Pizza e Pasta and Horne and Dekker.
