Sometime after 8 on Saturday, about two beers into the Observer’s first-ever Brew at the Zoo beer fest, I found food critic Scott Reitz standing in line for a sample of Longmont, Colorado’s Left Hand Brewery. It’d taken a few minutes to wade through the 3,000-plus people on hand and find him.

“This place is a zoo,” he told me, beaming knowingly. I got the feeling it wasn’t the first time he’d served up that cheese, and that it wouldn’t be the last.

And that’s the story of how Scott got fired.

Kidding! No one got fired, and we were all quite impressed with the festivities put together by our crack marketing team — hundreds of beers, thousands of people, bands, burgers and even a few animal sightings, if you count flamingos. See photos from the event on the slideshow page, and share any thoughts, praise, suggestions or complaints in the comments.
