One of Santa Fe’s most highly rated restaurants is readying to open in Dallas.

Chef Eric DiStefano, co-owner of Geronimo, confirmed two versions of the 18-year-old restaurant — which touts itself as “New Mexico’s only Mobil four-star, AAA four-diamond restaurant” – are Dallas-bound. Geronimo’s will open later this year in Highland Park Village, while the less-formal Geronimo’s Hideaway will take up residence at Ilume.

“They’re opening a restaurant in a gay resort!,” fellow Santa Fe chef Johnny Vollertsen enthused repeatedly over dinner last week at DiStefano’s Coyote Cafe.

DiStefano says the menu at Geronimo’s in Dallas will closely mirror the “global French Asian” menu served in Santa Fe: A menu from March posted online includes escargot, crab cakes, strip steak, lobster and Colorado lamb.
