Food & Wine recently announced that Matt McCallister, chef-owner of FT33, and Omar Flores, who chefs at Driftwood have been nominated for the magazine’s The People’s Best New Chef award.

The two Dallas chefs stand in a field of 100, divided into 10 different regions.
McCallister is “amazing because he’s attracting crowds to his first solo venture with his modern locavore dishes,” according to the Food & Wine profile of the chef. Meanwhile, Flores is “amazing because with with his deft hand at both raw and cooked dishes, he’s given Dallas its best seafood restaurant ever.”
