Oak Cliff is about to get another craft brewery. Noble Rey Brewing Company recently signed a lease at 1400 E Jefferson Blvd near I-35.
Chris Rigoulot is the founder and head brewer. He’s been around home brewing all his life — his father was a big fan of the craft — and he recently graduated from the American Brewers Guild Intensive Science and Brewing Course. When we first talked to Rigoulot he was planning to open a brewery in Grapevine, but he says he had a hard time finding a commercial space to work in.
So instead he turned his attention south, where he found this new spot.
“Oak Cliff was always on our radar,” say Rigoulot. “Personally I have always had an interest in the area, especially with the art elements throughout the city.”

Building a brewery is tricky business, but Rigoulot has been doing his homework. Last October he attended the Great American Beer Festival in Denver “was able to glean some valuable knowledge about how to finance [a brewery], where to look for the best equipment and, most important, that nothing ever goes according to plan in the beginning.”
Noble Rey will have a taproom and they hope to pour their first beer January of 2014. Of course, if everything goes as planned. There are now more than 15 breweries either in the works or fully functioning in the North Texas area.
