Last night, Meso Maya’s neon signs cast an indecent glow into the shadows of the nearby Perot Museum. Photographers hung outside the restaurant snapping pictures of guests, and inside a soft opening meal was followed by copious amounts of tequila drinking at the bar.

I ducked my head in quickly to check out the space (and maybe down a tequila shot of my own) and am excited to check this restaurant out when it opens up next week.

I didn’t eat anything, but a massive sheet of chicharrones sat on the pass, and the smell of masa was in the air. If the new Meso Maya is anything like the one in Preston Hollow, I’d say those in the downtown area should be pretty excited about their new Mexican restaurant.

The moderately sized, dark dining room has a nice, romantic feel to it but I don’t want to jump the gun too much. Foodbitch should have a detailed first look for us first thing next week.
