Each week, Happy Eating will highlight a different restaurant happy hour food menu, keeping you informed of what deals are out there.

This week we set our sights on the happy hour offerings of Uptown’s popular Lemon Bar–not the place to go if you are interested in low key.

Where: Lemon Bar When: Monday-Friday, 4:00 p.m.-7 p.m. The Scene: Bar seating only, loud music, flat screens showing sports, pretty people. The Deal: Half off of appetizers, including calamari, chicken wings, and Gorgonzola waffle fries, fried jalapenos, fried pickles. The Steals: Shrimp cocktail for $5. The sauce is spicy with a piquant horseradish kick, there are chunks of creamy avocado, and the shrimp are a good size.

The Con: Three items on the appetizers menu are not half off. Those items are the Ahi Tuna Nachos, Kobe Sliders, and Sample Platter. Eat: ½ pound chicken wings for $4. The wings are spicy, sufficiently succulent, and generous in meat. 1 pound of wings is $7.50. Skip: Depending on how you like it prepared, the calamari. Fans of calamari steak are in for a treat of tender, lightly battered steak strips. Fans of a chewier, more heavily battered tentacles and rings, not so much. Lushworthy: Different daily drink specials include beer and well drinks.

$30,000

The bottom line: It’s a popular place at the moment, and the usual prices aren’t cheap (and don’t usually justify the quality of the food). Good place to grab a drink with a friend, take advantage of reasonably priced bar food, and watch Dallas urbanites hit on each other.
