The former home of The Bicycle Café at the corner of Northwest Highway and Lawther Drive is now The Lake House Bar and Grill. The spot, which is just northeast of White Rock Lake, has been completely remodeled and transformed into a nautically themed, sunny hang out, replete with two patios.
On Wednesday I spoke with co-owner Eric Paulsen, who said they’re planning a big grand opening in about a month, but for now they’re easing into things, particularly in the kitchen where they’re offering a partial menu, though the bar is fully operational.
Paulsen tapped longtime Dallas chef Los Akins to help with the menu, recipes and in the kitchen. For now you can get street tacos, fried calamari, flat breads with Jimmy’s sausage, grilled chicken sandwiches, steak sandwiches and different daily specials. In a couple of months they plan on offering brunch.
For beverages, there’s an emphasis on local craft beer and they also offer some classic cocktails along, or you can get just a beer and shot of Jameson.
