Yesterday, we had the chance to chat with Nova’s chef Kelly Hightower about a thing or two — community gardens (which he says are trending in the food community), his very own top-secret guerrilla supper club (about which he assures we’ll be getting an email blast sooner than later), and most important, this month’s installment of City of Ate Presents: Supper Club at The Kessler Theater, coming Thursday.
The four course-dinner menu was released yesterday on City Of Ate, and in case you missed it, Hightower says he will be whipping up a smorgasbord of “authentic, cool flavors.”
The menu is inspired by Hightower’s love of Mexican flavors, as they have “always been a passion,” he says.
Hightower says he has “traveled extensively, for flavors. Visiting many regions of Mexico, even authentic tiny joints down in Mexico city.” The feast will commence with a jicama, blood orange and cucumber salad with cumin agave nectar vinaigrette, followed by sopa de elote with cotija cheese, crema mexicana and chili morita drizzle, hamachi tostada with black bean mojo and pickled ramps, and lamb shank with barbacoa wild mushroom tamal and salsa boracha.
