These days, you can get strawberries all year long, but there are only a few months out of the year when you can get Girl Scout cookies. The only seasonal food left is now on sale door-to-door, but if you don’t know a Girl Scout, you can wait for the booth sales (February 23-March 17) or call the Cookie Hotline (1-800-882-MINT). I’d heard rumors that there are some cookies you can get in Fort Worth that you can’t get in Big D. Turns out that’s true. There are 326 Girl Scout Councils in the country; each picks one of two licensed bakeries with which to work. Naturally, Fort Worth and Dallas chose different ones. Not to worry, they’re both required to have the essential shortbread Trefoils, peanut butter Do-Si-Dos and the divine Thin Mints.
