Red Bull and vodka may be replaced by a darker, more silty caffeinated boozy beverage. The folks behind Deep Ellum Brewing Company posted the above picture on their Facebook wall, promising the the marriage of java and suds. Tait Lifto, who works on branding and sales, told me it will be some time before we see a coffee-driven offering from the Deep Ellum Brewers, but it’s definitely in the works.
Lifto says the picture was taken at a sampling meeting he attended with brew master Drew Huerter, and the two discussed flavor profiles and ideas for the yet to be named beverage.
“There’s not really a rhyme or reason to what we’re doing,” Lifto said. “We’re not copying anyone’s flavor styles.” He went on to tell me they were playing with ideas for maple flavors to carry on a sort of breakfast-themed beverage, but it’s going to take a few months of development.
They’re hoping to release the coffee beer sometime this fall. In the meantime you can get ready for their next release, the double IPA “Dream Crusher.” Clocking in at 9.7% ABV, the hyper hoppy beer promises one hell of a black out if you drink enough of it.
