Good news for the adventurous eaters out there who think they’ve tried everything Thai food has to offer: CrushCraft Thai Street Eats, the fast-casual restaurant from retired chef Paul Singhapong and restaurateur Jack Nuchkasem, will open in mid-January at 2800 Routh Street in Uptown.
The menu will be divided into three sections. One will focus on foods that are typical in open air markets in Bangkok, like Khaosan Road and Saphan Khwai. Another will focus on dishes most diners will be used to finding in Thai restaurants, like pad thai or khao soi topped with crispy noodles and pickled vegetables. The third will be a “For Chefs” section with more adventurous, seasonal dishes that rotate monthly, like sweet pork belly curry and kai yaang, a grilled chicken dish with Malaysian and Laotian varieties.

“We feel as though some of the traditional techniques and methods to make great Thai food, admittedly not the most efficient, is somewhat a lost art,” Singhapong said in a press release. “We will take a very handmade approach to the menu and want to bring back some of those traditions and share that experience with our diners.”
