Dallas’ thriving craft cocktail scene will soon have a downtown outpost, courtesy of local celebrity barkeeps Michael Martensen and Eddie “Lucky” Campbell.
The pair has begun renovations on the Main Street space previously occupied by Dr. Bell’s BBQ in the 1400 block of Main Street. While the cocktail bar is geographically situated alongside City Tavern, its spiritual home
is between the popular beer joint and upscale bar at Charlie Palmer, located one block east. The as-yet-unnamed bar will cater to patrons who take their drinks seriously, but don’t necessarily want to spend a day’s pay on a night out. According to Martensen, food items will be priced at or below $12.
Martensen says he’s currently developing an overarching concept and menu to match, and is toying with what to make of a historical tidbit he recently acquired: The location once housed a bar owned by Jack Ruby.
