When: 4-7 p.m. and 9 p.m.-midnight Monday through Saturday, all day Sunday
What: A one-topping 16-inch pizza for $10 (regularly $11.95, plus $1.50 to $4 per topping). Additionally, the bar offers different all-day food or drink discounts each day, including half-price wings Wednesdays, $2 wells Thursdays and $3 house shots Fridays and Saturdays. Why: Because the crispy pies (also available with pesto or roasted garlic oil sauce in place of marinara) belong in any conversation about the city’s best thin-crust pizzas. And depending on when you go, the bar’s happy hour and daily specials can accommodate you no matter what you’re in the mood to do.
Want a quiet drink? Or would you rather play some Parcheesi with a friend? Check out the library, where you can check out old Dallas Police Department memorabilia and photographs. Care to sit outside? Obviously you haven’t looked at a thermometer lately, but once the temps get below 100, have a seat with friends at one of the spacious patio’s picnic tables. Or maybe you’re in a partying mood and want to pound a few cheap shots while dancing to live music. In that case, the stage is in what could easily pass for a ’70s basement rumpus room, with random thrift-store pillows fixed to the walls for sound dampening and eclectic booking that has recently ranged from noted regional comedian/singer-songwriter Dave Little to punk legend Wreckless Eric.
Really, unless you’re on a tight schedule, there’s no reason to pay full price for a pizza at dinner time, as you can either sneak in your order before 7 p.m. or just nurse a drink or two until 9 p.m.
