It was, unequivocally, one of the best parts of childhood: waking up early while the house was still quiet and pouring a massive bowl of sugary cereal while watching Saturday morning cartoons. Maybe it was the epic cartoons (whatever happened to Captain Planet?) or maybe it was just the sugar, but something about this Saturday morning ritual just felt right.
Now, you can relive those memories with all the benefits of being over 21.
On Saturday morning, for $15 per person, chef David Pena at BrainDead Brewing in Deep Ellum will serve four different “beer-milks” with four cereal options. What is beer-milk? If you’ve ever had BrainDead’s Stout Chocolate Milk, you’ll have a pretty good idea.
Mix and match milks and cereals or go with chef recommendations while you watch cartoons streaming on the projector. Pajamas and blankets are “strongly encouraged, but not required,” according to the Facebook event. BrainDead used a Facebook poll to create a cartoon playlist. The top contenders: Scooby-Doo, Captain Planet and Thundercats.
