Our favorite hippie ice cream makers from Vermont might have lost their minds, but they have not lost their sense of humor. Today they announced their new flavor: “Schweddy Balls.”
According to B&J’s, the Saturday Night Live inspired dessert has “vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum and is loaded with fudge covered rum and malt balls.”
In the famous skit, Molly Shannon and Anna Gasteyer, the soft-spoken NPR radio hosts, interview the owner of a bakery called Season’s Eatings, Pete Schweddy, played by Alec Baldwin. They ask Schweddy about his favorite holiday dessert. Which are, of course, his balls.
“No one can resist my Schweddy Balls,” claims Baldwin. He also has popcorn balls and cheese balls, but the rum balls must be the best.

Available in pints or in Scoop Shops, start celebrating the holiday season early this year. If, that is, you can find the new ice cream. It will only be available in about 30 percent of B&J retailers. Do they have the balls to bring the Balls to the bible-belt buckle? We’ll see.
