As yet another week draws to a close, it’s time to start thinking about your food-related weekend plans. Looks like we might have some nice grilling weather in our future, but before you scrub the rust off your grill grates, we have a week to wrap up.

This week I reviewed Spoon Bar & Kitchen, the fine-dining seafood restaurant that self-promotion Jedi John Tesar opened late last year. Tesar’s delicate and refined approach to cooking is really worth checking out if you like seafood. The restaurant is worth checking out regardless.

Elsewhere on CoA we tasted a lot of margarita mix. The results? Nothing beats fresh citrus, but there are a few mixes you can buy at the store that are passable. We also noted the coming of The Lot, the passing of Rosemont, and ate some incredible barbecue at Angelo’s in Fort Worth.

Over on the Eats Blog, Leslie Brenner reviewed Cafe des Artistes and awarded one star. Apparently she wasn’t impressed with the corn she found in her risotto. Maybe she’s still sore about the loss of the Commissary and the Screen Door. I still miss them both. She also has a nice ode to grapefruit to wake up your palate.

Over on Side Dish Nancy Nichols reviewed FT-33 and … well, Nancy doesn’t award stars. And while the restaurant was quick to capture this quote: “the first night I visited FT33, McCallister put me in a trance” I can’t help but notice some significant criticisms of service across the board and of some of the dishes. Read it for yourself and see what you think.

And finally, Kitchen Quixote is by far my favorite column on the Entrée Dallas blog. Be sure to check out Rich Vana’s story on the time he spent in the coolers at Local Yocal. And then pour yourself a margarita. The weekend starts right … now.
