The Texas State Veggie Fair will descend on Winfrey Point at White Rock Lake this Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., providing an alternative to all the fried animal parts you’ve been subjected to at the State Fair. For the second year, the event will give veg heads a place to congregate, talk tofu and share a space free from the tyranny of meat.
The Cheap Bastard profiled the food competition last month, with pictures of fried vegan Reubens and fried queso. To be honest those pictures looked way hotter than any of the fried foods coming out of Big Tex’s event. Veganized versions of funnel cakes, corn dogs and other typical State Fair foods will also be featured.
In addition to food, Plowboy, Goodnight Ned, Bravo Max and Here Holy Spain share the live-music bill, with other arts and entertainment options. Speakers will give talks on healthy eating, animal rights and yoga, and Amber Shea Ford, a vegan and raw food chef from Kansas City, Missouri will give a food-prep demo.
