It must be true what they say about all good things. On January 31, Zhulong Gallery, one of the city’s most forward-thinking galleries, will close for good. An email from the gallery’s PR company says the gallery, which was scheduled to open an exhibition of Stockholm-based artist Johanna Billing’s photographic and video works this weekend, will instead shut down.

Just two years into stellar programming at one of the most beautiful gallery spaces in the city, Zhulong joins the growing list of galleries shuttering in Dallas in the last six months, alongside RE Gallery and Oliver Francis Gallery. It also marks the continued decline of Dragon Street, which was once the hub for the Dallas gallery scene.

We are still waiting for official word from the gallery’s director Aja Martin on the motivation for the closing.
