In the parallel orbits of daytime television, Maury Povich is the Bizarro universe equivalent of Oprah Winfrey. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing. We’ll take “Who’s My Morbidly Obese Baby’s Daddy?” over “Darfur Extreme Beauty Makeovers” any day. Hypnotist Flip Orley‘s numerous appearances on Maury make him the Bizarro Dr. Phil for legions of viewers even more pathetic and gullible than your average Oprah apostle. Whereas Dr. Phil spews barnyard animal analogies that masquerade as psychobabble, Orley deals in the slightly less credible “When I snap my fingers you will think you are a barnyard animal” brand of delusion. Sad? A little. Entertaining? As all hell. Flip Orley performs an absolutely retardulous buttload of shows through Sunday, December 9, at the Addison Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road. Tickets run from $15 to $18. For tickets and less vague showtimes call 972-404-8501 or visit improv.com.
Wednesdays, Thursdays, 8:30 p.m.; Fridays, 8:30 & 10:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 7, 9 & 11 p.m.; Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Nov. 28. Continues through Dec. 9, 2007
