We, members of the NAAGP, hereby protest Casa Mañana’s Children’s Playhouse’s premiere of a new musical, Jack & the Beanstalk, on Friday and encourage all largish people and NBA players to join us for a protest at 7 p.m. outside the theater, 3101 W. Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth. (We’ll also protest at each performance through February 25.) Why? Blatant size-ism, that’s why. Who’s the purported “hero” of the woeful tale of theft and murder? That snot-nosed punk Jack, that’s who. Will any of us be safe in our cloud homes to enjoy our gold egg-laying poultry and magical harps if this sort of anti-giant calumny goes unchallenged? All any giant wants is to thump about, eat his porridge and bake bread in peace. (And no, we don’t grind bones for bread, despite claims to the contrary.) We demand justice. We’re here. We’re really tall. Get used to it. Call 817-332-2272 or visit casamanana.org/index.htm to register complaints.
Fridays, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. & 2 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Feb. 9. Continues through Feb. 25
