The first thing you’ll notice when you pull up the Weimaraner Rescue of North Texas Web site is a disclaimer that says that they can’t currently accept any more rescue dogs. Then there’s actually a list of dogs that they can’t rescue. If you’re an animal lover (or if you have a soul), you’ll be hard pressed to not think about that the rest of the day. It’s certainly enough to drive you to reckless gambling. And as luck would have it, the folks at the Weimaraner Rescue have partnered with their friends at the Dalmatian Rescue of North Texas to host a little casino night action, so you can not only gamble away your troubles, but help the sweet Weimaraners and Dalmatians that need a forever home. For $35 a person, you’ll get $2,000 in “funny money,” two drinks and appetizers. Of course, you’ll need to up the ante (and help more dogs, remember), so additional “funny money” can be purchased. Winnings will be used to buy prizes, and there will also be silent auctions throughout the night. The event will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church (2700 Spring Creek Parkway in Plano) from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. For more details, visit weimrescuetexas.org or dalpal.com.
Sat., July 21, 7-11 p.m.
