With a Friday the 13th freshly tucked under our belts and Mercury spending some serious time in retrograde this month, it’s easy to feel that everything is all black cats and bad luck lately. Air conditioner failures, car wrecks … it’s all going south and you gotta pin it on something, right? The Social Science: Superstitions event at 7 p.m. Friday at the Perot Museum, 2201 North Field St., explores the science behind superstition with interactive workshops, experiments and fun activities that delve into the realm of the mystical. Grab a cocktail and have your fortune read or your handwriting analyzed while live music from The Fox and The Bird provides a soundtrack for a charmed evening. And if you’re more into science than superstition, head out to the plaza to gaze at the stars through telescopes or relax in the planetarium and explore the universe. Tickets are $18 for the general public and $13 for museum members; visit perotmuseum.org for purchase.
