Studs Terkel, the bow-tie wearing, oral historian from Chicago, was known for his books collecting the human experience. One of Terkel’s most famous books, Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do (published in 1974), recounted the memories of people from all walks of life. The book gave readers a chance to literally step into the shoes of actresses, waiters, janitors and policeman. Stephen Schwarz turned the best seller into a Broadway musical a few years later. The KD College Conservatory of Film and Dramatic Arts , 2600 Stemmons Frwy, Suite 117, is putting on the show at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday through Saturday, and if you’ve never been exposed to Terkel’s work, it’s a good place to start.
