Charlie Sheen makes $875,000 per episode of Two and Half Men. That means he makes more per craptastic, predictable, woman-hating episode of that sitcom than most of us will make over the course of 15 years. And as much as I hate that Mr. Sheen can leer his way through a 30-minute sitcom and leave with a paycheck that could feed a small country, I can’t say that I don’t understand the appeal. I won’t admit (publicly, at least) that I find the show entertaining in any way. But I will say that Sheen is kind of perfect in the role. I’ve always kind of admired his acting chops, particularly in his pitch-perfect (no pun intended) turn in Major League as hothead pitcher Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn. It’s possible, though, that Sheen is just gifted at landing roles that don’t require much of a stretch–he kind of is a leering, lecherous cad a la Charlie from Two and a Half Men, and he was also a talented pitcher, whose fastball topped out at 85 miles per hour back in the day. At any rate, he’s certainly not hard to look at, especially in that Indians uniform he sports in Major League, which plays tonight at NYLO Plano, 8201 Preston Road as part of their Courtyard Thursdays series. The movie starts at 8:30 and is free.
