If you can say the words “dog show” without singing the clap, clap, clap, clap, clap song from SNL, or picturing any scene from Best in Show, you’re a better human than the rest of us. Either way, it’s time to cash in that vacation day and head to the Dallas Convention Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday for the Lone Star State Classic Dog Show. It’s an event that can only be described as “long,” “tedious” and “loaded with people in sensible shoes” — each leading their furry lady or gent across an Astroturf stage to determine once and for all who is the fairest furry beast of them all. Basically, it’s a big freaking deal and for a nominal fee, you can be a part of the … uh … action? Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for any human younger than 5.
