It seems a bit antithetical to include a film screening as part of The Big Read (the National Endowment for the Arts program to promote the dying practice of reading for enjoyment), but really, it’s pretty brilliant. Teaming up with the NEA and D Magazine, the Texas Theatre presents a special screening of François Truffaut’s Fahrenheit 451, the film adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic dystopian novel about book burning and the perils that come from the destruction of books and the suppression of learning. So dig out your old paperback (or swing by a real live bookstore for a new copy) and head to the Cliff for this great community event, where you can join a post-film book discussion with Peter Simek, Chris Vognar and other bibliophiles like yourself.
