People love to hate Sam’s Town, the Killers‘ 2006 sophomore album, because many of the songs sound earnest and contrived, like a Bruce Springsteen tribute band that tries a little too hard to nail “Born to Run.” But not all of the songs sound like that; in fact, one of the highlights of the album, “Read My Mind,” is an absolute gem, catchy, goofy, oddly inspiring and better than anything on the band’s beloved debut, Hot Fuss. Sam’s Town might have been a letdown, but “Read My Mind” shows that the Killers still have a future to die for. The Killers will play the Nokia Theatre at Grand Prairie at 8 p.m Thursday. The incredibly fun Louis XIV will open the show. For tickets, call 214-373-8000 or visit ticketmaster.com.
Thu., Sept. 13, 8 p.m.
