Grab your cognitive crampons and intellectual wingsuit because film festivals just got extreme. Each year, the juried Banff Mountain Film Festival takes place in November, and its winners — roughly 25 of more than 300 films submitted — hit the road on a fearless world tour, crash-landing in 400 communities throughout 35 countries. This year, the Banff Festival reels to a screeching halt at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (3200 Darnell St.) Sunday and Monday with a variety of action, environmental and adventure films, from short experimental and amateur joints to introspective professional documentaries, all focusing on outdoor living through activities like skiing, climbing, kayaking, BASE jumping, snowboarding, mountain biking, snow-kiting and speedriding. Shows start at 7 p.m. and you can purchase tickets for $15 at the Backwoods store at 2727 W. 7th St., or online at backwoods.com. Call 817-332-2423.
