RuPaul once told a contestant on Drag Race that she looked less like Sex in the City and more like sex in the alley. It was a perfect summation of drag — flashy, sometimes tawdry and consistently entertaining, but always toeing the line between high camp and just … high. Steven Jay Crabtree has made that line his catty bitch, incorporating the trashy with the divine and creating the right blend of comedy as part of his Dysfunctional Divas routine, in which he bounces among high-strung celebrities, superheroes and all manner of drag queens. The late-night show is definitely R-rated but promises a gender-bending romp through a litany of fabulous characters. Pocket Sandwich Theatre, 5400 East Mockingbird Lane, plays host to Crabtree and his escapades, which will have you laughing into the wee hours. Shows are at 11:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $12, plus a one-item minimum. See pocketsandwich.com for more.
