Despite spirited efforts from some spirited folks, developers won in the end (is anybody surprised?). The deconstruction of buildings at Fry and Hickory streets in Denton is scheduled over the next couple of Saturdays, and Habitat for Humanity is auctioning off the salvaged building materials for charity. Maybe some enterprising artist can make something out of the chaos, a green thumb can border their butterfly garden or someone can find some good pipe material. Seek the destroyed when the auction is held 7 p.m. Friday behind the Flying Tomato restaurant at the corner of Fry and Hickory streets. For more information call 940-382-8487 or e-mail dentonrestore@yahoo.com.
Fri., June 22, 7 p.m.
