We live in interesting times that beget interesting fears. Our nightmares aren’t so much of the monster and zombie variety, but rather ideas like environmental decline, technological alienation and human rights issues. These fears are found in the Latina Dance Theater Project’s The Slumber of Reason, a darkly comic performance that uses art, dance and theater to explore the trials and tribulations of modern man. The story is inspired by Goya’s “Los Caprichos (The Caprices),” which was itself an artistic commentary on the changing, sometimes scary world around it. The Slumber of Reason (El Sueño de la Razon) is at 8 p.m. November 5 and 6 at the Latino Cultural Center, 2600 Live Oak St. Tickets are $15. Call 214-671-0045 or visit brownpapertickets.com.
Fridays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: Nov. 4. Continues through Nov. 6, 2011
