Celebrate Latin heritage this fall with two Día de los Muertos events celebrating life, renewal and the memory of loved ones: The Bishop Arts Foundation hosts its first Día de los Muertos celebration 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday outside the North Oak Cliff library at 302 West 10th St. with a free, family-friendly event featuring a community ofrenda (offering). Guests are invited to bring photos and mementos of loved ones and take part in a candlelight procession through a graveyard filled with altares (altars). Mexican food will be on sale from local vendors, plus the event promises dancing, storytelling, live music and more. For a full list of performances and events, check out bishoparts.org/ddlm. Also, don’t miss ReVivan Los Muertos, a free six-day program by the Latino Cultural Center at 2600 Live Oak St. Taking place from Saturday through November 3, the program’s theme is reuse, recycle and revive, and the community is invited to create and submit artwork from recycled materials. The Cara Mía Theatre Company will perform El Viaje de Tina, a bilingual play, and Aztec dancers will perform. The LCC will offer hands-on arts and crafts workshops led by local artists.
