Since the music industry became flooded with auto-tune mixes (lookin’ at you, T.I.) and “entertainers” (ahem, Britney), we’ve wondered: Does anyone, you know, sing anymore? There’s a place where the singing never stopped, where the neon lights are bright — sing it with us — on Broadway! For proof, look no further than to our own Betty Lynn Buckley, proud Texan and Broadway veteran. She nabbed a Tony Award as the original Grizabella in Cats, a hell of a part that requires fierce pipes, not caterwauling, to pull off its famous song, “Memory.” Benefit from Buckley’s wisdom during a song interpretation and scene study workshop at the Modern. She’ll instruct students on singing and storytelling during marathon sessions over six weeks.
