The Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers face off Monday, perhaps under a more dutiful gaze than their last showdown. When the Rangers and Tigers met at the end of last April, Alberto Gonzalez secured the lead for the Rangers in the 11th inning with a squeeze bunt, that is, bunting the ball to allow Nelson Cruz to score. A good play that probably won the game for the Rangers, 3-2. But just one problem. Unbeknownst to the umpires, the ball hit Gonzalez in the knee, making it a foul. The play stood and there were no repercussions. It’s just one of many little injustices that all teams rack up in their time, but Detroit’s fans will no doubt keep a warier eye on the Rangers during Monday’s game. The game takes place at 7:05 p.m. at the Rangers Ballpark, Arlington. For tickets and information, call 972-RANGERS or visit texasrangers.com
