Don’t let presentation names like “Not So Creepy Critters,” “Herping Adventures” and “Glades Herps” throw you off. This is not some kind of conference for people who like to look on the bright side of unsafe sex. In fact, caution is strongly encouraged, as Pete Mimikos will give a “Venomous Snake Safety” talk about the personal pain and cost that careless handling of a snake can cause. A literal snake, that is, not one of the trouser variety. Repticon will bring dedicated herp lovers to the Texas Motorplex, 7500 W. U.S. Highway 287, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday for seminars and live animal presentations – including venomous creatures whose bites even Valtrex couldn’t counteract. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-12 and free for kids 4 and younger, or $12 for two-day VIP passes, which get you in an hour early on Saturday. Call 863-268-4273 or visit repticon.com.
Sat., Feb. 18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sun., Feb. 19, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 2012
