The best part about watching kid flicks as an adult is catching the references that sailed right over your head 20 or so years ago. Take the The Wizard of Oz. To kids, it’s a semi-scary movie with flying monkeys and a wicked witch; but lurking underneath the yellow brick road is a lesson about what’s important in life. But in the age of Michael Bay, what’s a moral lesson without special effects? The national touring Broadway production of The Wizard of Oz coming to Bass Performance Hall has promised just that. Spoiler alert: Keep your eyes peeled for the tornado that whisks Dorothy away from Kansas. The Wizard of Oz opens Friday at Bass Performance Hall, 525 Commerce St. in Fort Worth.
