It seems that lunch is out of fashion. With networking lunches, lunches in the office or lunches just plain skipped in favor of an extra hour of productivity, hardly anyone values that midday break. But the break is important, not just for your body, but for your mind. If you simply can’t commit to lunch and lunch only, the Dallas Public Library offers a compromise. Their Book Munch series is a lunch-hour program that gives guests the opportunity to discuss books while eating. Think of it as story hour for adults. Only more interactive. January’s Book Munch program features a novel by Garrison Keillor, the Midwestern essayist and the voice and personality behind NPR’s Prairie Home Companion. Pontoon is set in Keillor’s fictional Wobegone, and includes all of the strong personalities and humorous plot twists that have attracted fans to the series so far. Bring your lunch and discuss Pontoon by Garrison Keillor from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday on the third floor of the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, 1515 Young St. Admission is free.
