Whether your training your son or daughter to be the next world conqueror, or if you’re just trying to get a history lesson in over the summer, Irving Arts Center has what you’re looking for. As part of their ongoing event, Genghis Khan: The Exhibition, the Arts Center is hosting a number of free family-oriented events, including an all-ages trebuchet building competition, where contestants construct their own siege machines to hurl objects in a distance shooting match, and Family KhanDays, where children can learn about Mongol culture and craft Mongolian-themed art projects for their friends and family. Both the trebuchet competition and Family KhanDays run through September 24 at the Irving Arts Center, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd. Attendance is free. Registration is required.
