It’s time to let it glow, let it glow, let it glow, y’all: City Lights 2014 has arrived. In an urban setting generally festooned with giant eyeballs and Important Business People, the giant Christmas tree anchored in Main Street Garden, 1920 Main St., is a veritable touchstone of warm fuzziness just oozing with holiday spirit. From 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday, that spirit oozes out all over Main Street for a festival that kicks off the jolliest of seasons. Families can get a head start on their Christmas shopping in the outdoor market or just enjoy those hallmarks of holiday togetherness: face-paint that will eventually end up smeared on Daddy’s coat; handmade Christmas ornaments to class up the family tree; and children practically vibrating with anticipation for the arrival of Santa Claus. You’ll get all this plus live music throughout the day, the opening of the beloved Neiman Marcus holiday tube vortex, and the lighting of the aforementioned giant tree at 7 p.m. Admission is free; visit downtowndallas.com/citylights2014 for more.
