You, dear readers, are good people, so we’re gonna give it to you straight: We have a big problem keeping our innermost fears in check. Like the time we saw a cockroach in our friend’s salad at a fancy restaurant (It was just a date. Whoops.). Or the time when we were kids and were perfectly convinced a shark had found its way through a plumbing system and into our buddy’s swimming pool. Or that time we saw a UFO at a Love’s truck stop and feared alien abduction, only to realize we were mere blocks from a busy airport. Obviously, we’re a little paranoid. That’s why we were so excited to see that the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St., is screening the film Private Fears in Public Places this weekend. Finally, a movie we could identify with… Unfortunately for us, the film is not really about scaredy cat X-Files fans, but rather tells the story of a bunch of depressed French singles roaming around Paris. “Oh no, I can’t get a date in the City of Love, and I just can’t cope with my six weeks of vacation time and free health care!” Cry me a river, Frenchie. Screenings start at 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Sunday. Visit themodern.org for more info.
