With temperatures soaring into the triple digits, taking a dip in the nearest body of cool water should be on the top of your summer to-do list. Who cares if your hair reeks of chlorine? Way back when bathing suits were rented (um, ew!) and at the dawn of the bikini era, methods for cooling off during the summers of the 1930s were no different, making White Rock Lake a summer hotspot. And right up the beach, the Municipal Bath House, now the Bath House Cultural Center, served as a refuge from the Texas summer heat. For a glimpse of those bygone summers at the lake, stop by the We Used to Swim Here exhibit for a look at vintage photographs from the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s. The exhibit will be on display Saturday through November 20 at the White Rock Museum Gallery in the Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther Dr. Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and until 10 p.m. on nights with theater performances. For more information, call 214-670-8749.
