The first year of motherhood is a learning curve. So much gets thrown at you that you can barely keep your head above water. Every cliche is true: You have no time, no energy and no money. You’re tired and you’re worn down, and if you can’t have a sense of humor about it, things aren’t going to be a lot of fun from here on out. It’s a tough job — not rocket science hard, but still — and as the laundry piles up and the dust bunnies creep in, it helps to remember that a zillion other people have experienced the same thing and have come through it totally, completely unscathed — and sometimes happier for it. Motherhood: The Musical explores the many ins and outs of the job as it follows Amy, a first-time mom, who is surrounded by friends who are each experiencing the joys and trials of motherhood in different ways. Beginning on Wednesday and running through September 4 at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Motherhood helps remind those of us in the thick of it all that we’re not alone, and that despite its challenges, being a mom is still a lot of fun. Performances are at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy St. Tickets are $45 and may be purchased at motherhoodfortworth.com.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 17. Continues through Sept. 4, 2011
