I wouldn’t go see a play about Reese Witherspoon (boring!), but I am somewhat interested in the play Miss Witherspoon, playing this week at the Unity Church of Dallas, 6525 Forest Lane. Sure, the basic description offered in the press release—”a provocative comedy by Christopher Durang about life, death and reincarnation”—doesn’t sound all that interesting, but then you get to the plot, which involves Miss Witherspoon traveling to and fro between “the earth and the great beyond” with Jesus, a Hindu spirit guide and Gandalf. If there’s a scene where he fights a giant fire-breathing demon while falling down an endless hellpit, I’m totally in. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday, with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday. Tickets are $15. Call 972-233-7106 or visit unitydallas.org.
Thu., Sept. 20, 8 p.m.; Fri., Sept. 21, 8 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 22, 8 p.m.; Sun., Sept. 23, 2 p.m.; Mon., Sept. 24, 8 p.m., 2007
