People who have been married for 25 years do not expect a romantic epiphany during a weekend at a swanky hotel. Trust me on this. To stay together that long involves a much better grasp of practicality than it suggests. But never mind — theater is all about the willing suspension of disbelief, so you old marrieds can suspend yours and make it a date night for Sexy Laundry, the romantic comedy opening at Addison’s WaterTower Theatre (15650 Addison Road, Addison). It’s about Alice and Henry, a long-married couple trying to kick their marriage out of a rut with a night at a luxury hotel and a copy of Sex for Dummies. Expect laughs, emotion, drama, et cetera as the couple learn how important communication is to a happy marriage. (In real life, sometimes keeping your big gob shut is more important, but never mind that either.) Sexy Laundry opens at 8 p.m. Saturday, with performances continuing through February 22. Tickets are $27.50, and you can find them and more information at watertowertheatre.org.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Jan. 31. Continues through Feb. 22, 2015
