Anyone who has ever sat through a surreal or confusing movie, but was polite enough to avoid nudging his neighbors and asking them exactly what’s going on, will finally get resolution. Well, with any of the whacked out flicks by Alex Cox, anyway. Cox, director of the cult classics Repo Man and Sid and Nancy, will host a handful of his unforgettable works for two nights back-to-back, each followed by an open question-and-answer session. Showing Thursday is the politically charged 1988 film Walker, an anachronistic and increasingly bizarre retelling of William Walker’s invasion of Mexico and Central America. Friday night includes a screening of his 1991 Mexican revenge flick, Highway Patrolman and an extended cut of the cult 1987 classic action-comedy Straight to Hell titled Straight to Hell Returns. The screenings take place at the historic Texas Theatre, 231 West Jefferson Blvd., at 7:45 p.m. Thursday for Walker, 7:45 p.m. Friday for Highway Patrolman and 10:15 p.m. for Straight to Hell Returns.
