The Dallas Observer is looking for a go-to freelancer to contribute stories of all make, model and size across all of our non-news channels: music, nightlife, food, drinks, arts, culture and the like.
The Ideal Candidate (“I.C.”) either is a full-time freelancer or has a “day job” that leaves plenty of time for reporting and writing. The I.C. should have some experience writing for an online or print publication, should possess a unique voice and style, and should know and love equally Dallas’ various social playgrounds.
The I.C. will have the opportunity to produce 10-15 blog posts a week on our arts, food and music/nightlife blogs, as well as event previews and, in time, full-length cover stories for the print edition. Although he or she won’t be on staff, the I.C. will have the opportunity to play a key role on Team Observer. We do not as of yet wear jerseys, but we’re open to the idea. We do like mesh.
Potential I.C.’s should send a friendly email explaining their current predicament, what they think they could bring to the Observer and what stories they would tackle if they were immediately deemed the I.C., which is unlikely but you never know because we’re sort of lazy. Also include a résumé and links to writing samples, as well as links to social media profiles if hilarious or otherwise noteworthy.
